Just a quick post today on TweetDeck’s announcement that it is stopping support for “TweetDeck AIR, TweetDeck for Android and TweetDeck for iPhone. They will be removed from their respective app stores in early May and will stop functioning shortly thereafter. We’ll also discontinue support for our Facebook integration.”
It appears TweetDeck will instead be concentrating on their web-based application (web.tweetdeck.com) and a Chrome application.
What does this mean for you as a TweetDeck user?
Having just tried out the web based TweetDeck on my mobile phone, I would not recommend trying to manage even a small personal Twitter account on it! It is certainly not optimised at all for mobile access.
If you must keep using TweetDeck then it looks like you will have to access it via your computer’s browser. However, if you’d like to continue having access to Twitter via an app on your phone I use and recommend Plume for Twitter (Android). I also recommend Hootsuite for either Android or the iPhone.
Both of these applications support multiple Twitter accounts as well as multiple column views so are good for small business owners who might have a personal and a business Twitter account.
These applications will work just as well if you just have the single Twitter account though. Or you might like to try just the standard Twitter app which is a good, basic application for accessing Twitter on the go.
Did you use TweetDeck on your phone? What application will you be moving to now?
